Komodo Island Tour Price: Counting Your Budget

So scroll down to find all the budget information that will help you planning a trip to Komodo.

Transportation Cost

Airplane

Travelling to Komodo involves three different kind of transportation; plane, car, and ship. First, you need to take a flight and land in Komodo International Airport, Flores. There are two option available; flying from Jakarta or Denpasar, Bali. A direct flight from Jakarta will cost you around IDR 3 million with 2.5 hours of flying. Meanwhile, a 1.5 hours direct flight from Denpasar will cost you about IDR 1.2 to 1.6 million.

Cars

From airport to Labuan Bajo harbor, you need to take a car ride. Outside the airport, plenty of options are available. A Bemo or ojek (mass transportation by car) can cost IDR 10K to 15 K. If you want a little privacy, opt for taxis which will charge a flat IDR 50K for once ride. Add this to your Komodo Island tour price planning.

Ships

When it come to ships, you literally get what you paid for. Some frugal travelers are willing to trade comforts for an extremely cheap fishing boat. However, I have heard a lot of stories about sailing with a humble wooden boat. Sometimes it involves dining in the deck floor, sleeping in wooden bench, or unexpected broken engine. Many times, it involves a lot of splashing water—the boat cannot keep your body dry. Can you really enjoy the beauty of Flores that way?

For travelers who values health and comfort for the sake of enjoying a journey, a liveaboard is your best choice. It literally means that you live on the boat, means you will have actual beds, dining table, and even lounge! It doesn’t have to be all luxurious. Find a good liveaboard which offer a decent Komodo Island tour price—and you’ll be happy. The ship can range from as cheap as $159, but then again you will split it with the group!

Entrance Fees to Komodo National Park

Some Komodo tour have includes entrance fees to the National Park on their Komodo Island tour price package, but some are not. As your information, Komodo National Park entrance fee is IDR 250K per person. It’s really recommended to take a ranger with you, and their fee is 80K per group. If you plan to snorkel, you need to pay additional charge for IDR 15K. You better prepare the cash in hand, as the Komodo Island has no ATM machine around.

With good budgeting, comes happy travelling.
