How to cut off social media distraction to increase your productivity

Social media can be a double-edged sword for entrepreneur like you. It can be used as a good platform for raising brand awareness. However, social media can also put you into a state of the lowest productivity because it can be very time-consuming. You post, reply to comment, and engage with other related posts, and so on. 

Social media is engaging and distracting at the same time. Staying away from social media can be very challenging as well. However, you can reduce the distraction of social media temptation by applying a distraction-free zone. For example, you set it for two hours. During this period, you keep your phone away from you while focusing on your work. It can be challenging to maintain self-discipline but practice makes perfect. 

You can also use a blocker so you don’t keep switch your tab to your social media page while working. Social media blocker will block any notifications. More than that, the blocker can come in a form of extension. Hence, you won’t even be able to open social media page when you log in. If it sounds too cruel, you can also set a timer for the blocker so it works only in particular period of time. 

As mention before that social media is distracting because the notifications so even if you try to focus on your work, the sound of notification tempts you to reach out your phone. Thus, it is highly recommended that you turn off all your social media notification during your work. When you put all your focus on your work, there won’t be any notification that can distract you. 

It must be hard to cut off social media activity entirely from your daily life. It can be boring and stressful if you keep working without a break. Hence, you don’t have to banish social media interaction entirely. You can just reduce the use of social media by setting a schedule for when you can check them. For example, allow yourself to check your social media only during your break. However, set an alarm for when your break is over so you won’t forget the time indulging in social media.

Social media is not only distracting but can be addicting as well. However, letting it affect your personal and professional life can put you in more problems. Therefore, it is important to learn how to contain your usage of social media.
